ASM International has launched Materials Radio, a series of podcasts on materials and their uses for middle school students. This program is part of the ASM K-12 Education Committee’s goal to help middle school students, parents, and teachers learn more about the ever-expanding world of materials and their importance in our world.
As part of the ASM strategic objective to bring materials outreach to future engineers and scientists, ASM is asking its newest members -- university student members -- to pass along their knowledge of materials by creating short audio programs that are informative, entertaining, and easy to understand.
$500 will be awarded for each podcast accepted for Materials Radio by a Material Advantage student member. Multiple applications from each student chapter are encouraged. Applications will be reviewed and chosen by the Materials Radio Selection Committee and winners will be selected based on professionalism and creativity.
Hear the first two Materials Radio podcasts by clicking the link below. These podcasts are focused on Material Science and Engineering and Ceramics. Additional podcasts on Metals and Polymers are coming soon.
