TECHNICAL PROGRAM

Who Will Benefit
Job shop sprayers, engineers, technicians, end-users, suppliers of equipment and material, academicians, researchers, material scientists, marketing companies and entrepreneurs will all benefit from this event.

Keynote Presentations
The keynote presentations cover all aspects of the turbine industry utilizing thermal spray technology. The technical program then breaks into two parallel tracks

Track 1 is designed for scientists and engineers who are interested in the design of coatings. We will discuss new technology trends as well as existing and future coating application requirements. OEM and repair coatings for engine and main frame components will be a main focus. Technical discussions on case studies and applications (wear, oxidation; hot corrosion; heat barriers and general wear and part restoration) will also be featured.

Track 2 is specific to applicators, technicians, quality, EH&S personnel and process engineers who implement the design of coatings on to components. This session will address operator training, environmental health and safety issues, testing and characterization, and quality and process improvement. Pre/post-processing and metallography will be discussed.

Panel discussions on topics of great importance to the North American aerospace and thermal spray communities – such as new technology trends in the aerospace industry and environmental health and safety issues – are an integral part of this symposium.

A pre-symposium seminar on Superalloys and Surface Modification Processes will be offered on October 13-14. Dr. Donald Boone, President, BWD Turbines Limited, has specially designed this seminar to focus on not only thermal spray but other very important surface modification processes that are critical to the aerospace industry.
