Kiersten Muenchinger will lead the workshop and Jim Marder will provide additional technical support.
Kiersten Muenchinger, Workshop Leader, is a practicing designer, business owner and educator in the San Francisco Bay area. Prior to founding Parapluie, a specialty gift box manufacturer, she was a design engineer at IDEO, Fitch, Sottsass Associatti, Walt Disney Imagineering and The Long Now Foundation. Kiersten is the Associate Chair of Industrial Design at California College of the Arts in San Francisco, where she teaches materials & manufacturing courses and design studios.
Jim Marder, Technical Director, ASM International, has been a practicing metallurgist for over 30 years. Prior to ASM International, he worked at Pratt and Whitney Aircraft, TRW Colwell Center, and Brush Wellman Inc. He left Brush Wellman to found Isostatic Technologies. Jim holds a B.S. and M.S. degrees in Metallurgy and a Ph.D. in Materials Science.
