The Emerging Professionals Program provides a younger demographic — the future of ASM — to see, understand and be involved with the inner workings of our internationally recognized professional society. The program allows ASM to seamlessly transition through from one generation to the next. Involvement goes beyond the local chapter level as our Emerging Professionals interact with ASM at the national level, organizing and executing events at the ASM Annual Meeting held at MS&T, guiding the direction of ASM by attending various committee meetings, as well as interacting with and learning from a diverse group of professionals who are acknowledged leaders within ASM International and as acknowledged mentors in the field.

Membership Matters

MEMBERSHIP DAY 2007 – Review and Award Winners!
Thank you to all Chapters and volunteers who joined with the ASM Membership Committee and staff during November to contact members due for renewal and prospective members. Although all reports haven’t yet been returned and tabulated, we’re estimating 100 members will renew through this special activity and 45 new members will join ASM.
“The Chapters had good, ‘best practice’ approaches to encourage member renewals and new members to join as part of the Membership Day activities,” says Karen Zapp, ASM Member Retention Specialist. “One Chapter offered a complimentary first meeting for new members, while another assigned members to contact their colleagues within their own companies to remind them to renew or to encourage them to join.”
Chapters winning $500 each for their participation in Membership Days are:
1. Gujarat – India
2. Inland Empire
3. Pittsburgh

In addition, the following members were recognized for their individual support of Membership Days 2007 with “ASM Bucks” to be used toward the purchase of ASM products or services:
1. Rodney Linnekin
2. Richard Polenick
3. Dr. Robert Rioja
4. Steve Schatz
5. Alan Vormelker
6. Barbara Young
