The Emerging Professionals Program provides our younger demographic — the future of ASM — to see, understand and be involved with the inner workings of our internationally recognized professional society. The program allows ASM to seamlessly transition through from one generation to the next. Involvement goes beyond the local Chapter level as our Emerging Professionals interact with ASM at the national level, organizing and executing events at the ASM Annual Meeting held at MS&T, guiding the direction of ASM by attending various committee meetings, as well as interacting with and learning from a diverse group of professionals who are acknowledged leaders within ASM International and as acknowledged mentors in the field.

Membership Matters

Membership Days 2008 – Save the Dates

Please save the date for the Fall Membership Phone-a-Thon to be held the week of October 13-17. Encourage your Chapter to participate! More details to follow soon.

Staff Phone-a-Thon Review

The entire week of April 7-11, ASM staff participated in the Spring Membership Phone-a-Thon. Participating staff were given a current list of 25 members due to expire in April. They were to contact the members by phone, along with an e-mail confirmation, to connect with some of our members and encourage them to renew their membership. A $10.00 discount was offered for every membership renewal that resulted from a phone call. This offer was not available for renewals on-line or by mail.
We held a Phone-a-Thon calling session at various times in our computer lab and found the response from the staff and members to be very positive. Approximately 49 staff participated through out the week, reaching 1075 members, with 203 renewing their membership. Staff averaged 5 renewals each and received a number of 2-year-plus renewals, along with selling products to members.

Education

Raise Money for your Chapter While Helping your Members Improve Performance

Due to the increased costs experienced by ASM to provide the products and services associated with Chapter Courses, a slight increase was necessary for the 2008 calendar year. The increase reflects paper, postage, printing and other miscellaneous costs, and translates into a cost of $312 per product vs. the previous price of $285 for Chapters.

We strive to keep our costs down while providing the most up-to-date technical content. As always, we will maintain our commitment to serving our Chapters with the highest level of responsibility and benefit.

If you have any questions, concerns or interest in receiving more information about the benefits of holding a Chapter course, contact John Cerne at 440-338-5151, ext. 5637.

To view a list of courses that may be of value to your Chapter and members, visit the website.

Please accept our gratitude for providing great services to your membership and understanding of this necessary change.
