ASM INTERNATIONAL EMERGING PROFESSIONALS PROGRAM

Do you know an Emerging Professional within the ASM community? Are you an Emerging Professional who wants to learn more about ASM committee involvement?
In recognition of the importance of young professionals to the future of ASM International, we are seeking recently graduated ASM members (1-5 yrs post graduation) to make up our first class of emerging professionals! Each year, this committee will organize and execute a program, for the ASM Annual Meeting, held at MS&T, giving them first hand experience to the inner workings of an ASM committee. The emerging professionals will have the opportunity to interact with and learn from a diverse group of professionals who are acknowledged leaders within ASM International and within the field.
This program is designed to build loyalty among emerging professionals to ASM International. ASM needs to embrace young professionals and assist them in the transition from student member to professional member. ASM will pay up to $500.00 for both hotel and airfare to attend the ASM Annual Meeting. Prior to the meeting, the recipient will be given a schedule of activities he/she is invited to attend. An RSVP is required of the award recipient. This award is something the emerging professionals can list on a resume, and serve as a precursor to further ASM committee involvement. Finally, induction into a class of emerging professionals gives the recipient immediate camaraderie and friendship within the society.
To apply, please submit an application package consisting of:
- A current resume: please highlight prior interest in ASM demonstrated either through participation in a student chapter, local chapter, or conference.
- A one-page essay (typed and double-spaced) addressing the aspects of ASM that most interest you, specifically with which committees you would most like to become involved.
