Chain Mail T-Shirt

For those bad days when you feel like a target, this may be just what you need. This Chain Mail T-Shirt is real chain mail, made from thousands of anodized aluminum rings. This makes the shirt fairly light (for chain mail) at around 20 pounds. But keep in mind that the aluminum rings can be bent and come uncoupled if you don't take care with the garment. ThinkGeek, the company that makes this thing, includes a small bag of extra rings that you can easily bend into place with needle-nose pliers if any repairs are needed.

A Member’s Voice

Volunteers Shape the
Future of ASM

Our Committees and Councils are the governance groups that provide a leadership infrastructure for ASM. “These groups are our weathervanes – they detect key directional shifts in member needs and translate these needs into action items for potential development,” said ASM President Dr. Dianne Chong, FASM.

“These ASM members provide critical input to the Board of Trustees,” she said, “which allows us to establish effective policies, set meaningful budgets and efficiently oversee the operations of the society. They give shape and weight to the value provided by ASM.”

President Chong also commended the individuals who serve as volunteer leaders of our society, as well as the organizations and companies that allow them to serve. “You are all very important to ASM – in fact, you are the society,” she said. "Volunteerism defines us as a society. I want to thank all of our volunteers for what they continue to do for ASM. They are out there working hard, and I just want to say on behalf of the entire membership: Thank you.”

Take a closer look at the diverse and significant groups that comprise ASM’s leadership infrastructure. If you’re interested in getting involved, we encourage you to contact the listed Staff Liaison for further information.
