Rolled Alloys Opens China Facility
Rolled Alloys, Temperance, Mich., opened Rolled Alloys (Suzhou) Co. Ltd., including a new warehousing and processing facility in the Suzhou Industrial Park, Jiangsu Province, Peoples Republic of China. The 30,000 ft2 (2,800 m2) facility includes shearing, sawing, and plasma cutting capabilities. For more information, click here.

BOC Edwards Vacuum Equipment Business Sold
CCMP Capital, London, UK, through affiliates of CCMP Capital Advisors LLC and CCMP Capital Asia Ltd. international private equity firms, agreed with The Linde Group (Wiesbaden, Germany) to acquire BOC Edwards, a manufacturer of vacuum equipment. The deal is valued at €685M (US$908.8M). BOC Edwards is a global supplier of equipment and services in areas including semiconductor, flat panel display, chemical, metallurgical, analytical instrumentation, and R&D. The companies expect to close the transaction by summer 2007 subject to regulatory review and customary closing conditions. For more information, click here.

Ambrell Group Awards Induction Heating System to Georgia Tech
Georgia Institute of Technology, Atlanta, Ga., won an Ameritherm (an Ambrell Group company, Scottsville, N.Y.) Hotshot 2-kW induction heating system in the Ambrell group of companies’ world-wide induction heating system give-away. Georgia Tech’s crystal vapor deposition application was one of hundreds of induction heating applications submitted during the contest. The system was installed is being used in a chemical vapor deposition (CVD) apparatus as part of a cold wall reactor. For more information, click here.

ThyssenKrupp Electrical Steel to Increase Production
ThyssenKrupp Electrical Steel GmbH, Düsseldorf, Germany, has increased its annual production capacity for grain-oriented electrical steel to 260,000 metric tons by upgrading its decarburizing line. The new equipment offers enhanced possibilities for producing premium grades, which take longer to decarburize than standard products. Grain-oriented electrical steel is mainly used for transformer cores.

Process-Electronic Obtains License from Marathon
Process-Electronic Inc., St. Laurent, Quebec, Canada, acquired a license from Marathon Sensors Inc., West Chester, Ohio, to use proprietary communications protocols and recipe language used in Marathon instrumentation and software products. The license makes Process-Electronic’s instrumentation and software solutions compatible with a full range of existing and legacy software and hardware products developed and sold by Marathon over the past 25 years. Sulzer Withdraws Offer for Bodycote
Sulzer AG, Winterthur, Switzerland, is no longer considering making an offer for Bodycote International plc, Macclesfield, Cheshire, UK, as no agreement on a recommended transaction could be reached with the Board of Bodycote. Sulzer reserves the right to announce an offer or possible offer or participate in an offer or possible offer for Bodycote and/or take any other action which would otherwise be restricted under Rule 2.8 of the City Code within the next six months if certain conditions exist.
