DOE Plan Focuses on
Energy Efficiency

The U.S. industrial sector consumes 32% of total energy and over 7-trillion cubic feet (Tcf), or 7,000-trillion Btu (TBtu) of natural gas. A robust Research, Development and Deployment (RD&D) plan for the Industrial Technologies Program (ITP) at the U.S. Department of Energy entitled “Priorities for Clean, Efficient Natural Gas Industrial Applications,” identifies technology development, assessment, and transfer that will improve industrial productivity, raise energy efficiency, and increase U.S. competitiveness in a global market. A partnership among the energy industry, federal government, NGOs, state RD&D entities and educational institutions is critical to gathering the necessary resources to carry out the plan. To read the complete document, visit the Gas Technology Website and look in Hot Topics.
