Dr. Arthur H. Heuer, Chairman

Case Western Reserve University, Cleveland, OH

Dr. Heuer is a University Professor and Kyocera Professor of Ceramics in the Department of Materials Science and Engineering at Case Western Reserve University. He currently heads the Heuer Research Group at Case which focuses on carburization of stainless steels, oxidation of Ni-based superalloys, and the ceramics of Bernard Palissy. Since 1990, Dr. Heuer has also served as External Scientific Director for the Max Planck Institute in Stuttgart, Germany. He received his B.S. degree from The City College of New York, and his Ph.D. and D.Sc. degrees from the University of Leeds (England). He is a member of ASM International, and has been an active member of the National Academy of Engineering (NAE) since 1990.
