Furukawa Electric announces reorganization of metal wire business

Furukawa Electric, Japan, announced the reorganization of its metal wire business. The reorganization involves Furukawa Electric and its wholly-owned subsidiaries: Furukawa Electric Industrial Cable Co., Ltd. (the Integrated Company), KANZACC CO., LTD., Riken Electric Wire Co., Ltd., and Okano Cable Co., Ltd.

Due to challenges in the shrinking Japanese metal wire market, Furukawa Electric aims to integrate its divisions to maximize synergy effects and increase corporate value. This reorganization will involve multiple steps effective from April 1, 2025, to October 1, 2025.

On April 1, 2025, KANZACC will merge into the Integrated Company. Following this, on October 1, 2025, the Company will execute an absorption-type split, transferring its metal wire business to the Integrated Company. Additionally, Riken Electric Wire and Okano Cable will transfer their metal wire businesses and related subsidiaries to the Integrated Company on the same date.

This strategic move aims to address talent shortages and facility renewal costs, ensuring efficient operations and rapid decision-making. Furukawa Electric expects minimal impact on its consolidated financial results from this reorganization. The company will maintain its name, address, leadership, business outline, capital stock, and fiscal year end post-reorganization.
