The Emerging Professionals Committee

Scope

The Emerging Professionals Committee is an ASM national committee whose members assist with guiding the direction of the Society by coordinating programming and/or products relevant to the demographic. This may include:

  • Serving as liaisons to other national committees.
  • Organizing a symposium at ASM’s Annual Meeting (IMAT).
  • Hosting webinars on various subjects.
  • Promoting/awarding the ASM Emerging Professionals Achievement Award.
  • Crafting content for AM&P magazine, ASM Social Media channels, etc.

An important function of this committee is helping its members make professional connections early in their career.

For more information on the ASM Emerging Professionals Committee, please view the committee’s FAQ or testimonials from past members.

Eligibility & How To Apply

To join, you must be an ASM member who is no more than five years past graduation (from your latest degree) and have a desire to learn more about ASM committee involvement. The committee is geared toward professional ASM members; full-time students are generally not eligible but graduate students may be approved on a case-by-case basis.

The committee selects new members each spring. Prospective members may apply the prior fall/winter. To be considered, applicants must fill out a brief application and submit a current resume, a letter of recommendation, and a one-page essay. When accepting applications, more information is available on the ASM opportunities page on ASM Connect.

The committee is not currently accepting new members. Check back in late December when application details will be posted.
