New aluminum production technology to cut costs and emissions

This video shows the current process for making aluminum. Alcoa and Rio Tinto plan to join with Apple to develop a new aluminum smelting technology that will eliminate greenhouse gases and reduce costs.  Named Elysis, the joint venture will be based in Canada, and the companies expect to commercialize the eco-friendly technology by 2024.
