Researchers 3D print prototype for bionic eye
A bionic eye is now on the horizon due to the work of innovative researchers at the University of Minnesota. This video shows the additive manufacturing process they used for directly and fully 3D printing an array of interconnected semiconducting photodiode (light receptor) devices on a hemispherical glass dome, to show they could overcome the challenge of printing electronics on a curved surface. Their next steps are to create a prototype with additional light receptors that are even more efficient. Their research is published in Advanced Materials.
