Seco/Warwick Corp., Meadville, Pa., announces that Seco/Warwick Allied, Mumbai, India, has commissioned a ferritic nitrocarburizing furnace for heat treating bearing cages for Harsh Engineers Ltd., India. These systems are designed to increase product uniformity and tribological properties. It is capable of establishing a case depth of 8 to 25 microns with very low porosity.
The nitrogen potential control is based on a hydrogen analyzer and allows measurement and regulation of nitrogen atmosphere potential by measuring the hydrogen content in the furnace atmosphere. Process parameters such as ammonia flow, carbon dioxide flow, the ratio of carbon dioxide to ammonia, and furnace pressure are automatically regulated.
The furnace control system features a cascade-based temperature control system to regulate the furnace temperature to meet stringent AMS 2750 D requirements, and the SCADA system displays the temperatures in an easy to use graphic format.
