Aichelin to supply quench furnace to auto plant in India

Aichelin Group., Modling, Austria, announces that a new order for a 1500-kg electrically heated quench furnace installation has been received from Renault Nissan Automotive Ltd., for its automotive assembly plant in Chennai, India.  The order reportedly consists of four sealed quench furnaces and accessories, including a tempering and preheating furnace, a washer, and other related equipment, to be supplied in phases until April 2015.

 

Currently making small cars, this installation is reportedly to support plans to add a world-class engine and transmission facility.  The Chennai plant is the first joint venture factory between Renault and Nissan, and is part of their strategy to use the plant as a global manufacturing hub to support demand in South Asia. 

 

Expected to produce about 340,000 vehicles this year, the plant is anticipated to have an annual capacity of 480,000 by the end of 2013.  The facility employs about 6,000 workers, according to sources at Renault Nissan.
