MesoCoat PComP powders selected to coat roller screens in Mexican steel plant

Abakan Inc., Miami, announces that its subsidiary MesoCoat de Mexico S.A. de C.V., has received its first commercial PComP order for the coating of certain large roller screens from one of the largest steel manufacturing and iron ore processing companies in Mexico. MesoCoat says that in every trial, PComP powders have extended the useful life of equipment by a factor of five on average. This benefit could translate into millions of dollars in savings and enable customers to exchange downtime for production time.

The initial order is expected to be followed by repeat orders and an annual contract to coat all of the rolls at this facility. Abakan has also received orders for coating the lances used in iron ore production, and anticipates trial orders for coating tuyeres, pumps, clad plates, turbines, and other manufacturing equipment.

“PComP coatings and CermaClad metal cladding have both generated significant interest in the Mexican oil and gas, mining, cement, and steel industries,” says Abakan CEO Robert Miller. “We expect to start new trials and receive new orders from industry leaders in the coming months.”
