{"id":4467,"date":"2014-05-19T10:33:35","date_gmt":"2014-05-19T10:33:35","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/staging.asminternational.org\/edfas\/results\/-\/journal_content\/56\/10192\/18972151\/NEWS\/"},"modified":"2023-02-07T04:53:28","modified_gmt":"2023-02-07T04:53:28","slug":"brukers-vertex-ftir-spectrometer-covers-complete-mid-and-far-infrared-thz-ranges-in-one-step","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.asminternational.org\/edfas\/results\/-\/journal_content\/56\/10192\/18972151\/NEWS\/","title":{"rendered":"Bruker\u2019s Vertex FTIR spectrometer covers complete mid and far infrared\/THz ranges in one step"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\n\tBruker Corp., Madison, Wis., announces the Vertex FM, the world&#8217;s first FTIR spectrometer that covers the complete mid and far Infrared\/THz spectral ranges in one step with no gaps.&nbsp; In addition, the company offers a new wide-range MIR-FIR DLaTGS detector, which provides data collection from 6000cm<sup>-1<\/sup> down to 50cm<sup>-1 <\/sup>in one step without the need for any beamsplitter or detector exchange.<\/p>\n<p>\n\tThe achievable spectral range of an FTIR spectrometer is defined by the intersection of the efficiency ranges of the source, beamsplitter, and detector.&nbsp; The lower limit of the spectral range is very dependent upon the beamsplitter, and is typically limited to 350cm-1 (KBr) or 200cm-1 (CsI).&nbsp; To extend the spectral range further into the far IR and THz spectral ranges, one or more additional far IR beamsplitters and detectors are required. &nbsp;Because of this the user has to manually open the access flap of the spectrometer optics bench.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\n\tNow available for the first time is Bruker&#8217;s Vertex FM feature, which combines the unique wide spectral range beamsplitter, the new wide range detector, and the standard IR source. These cover the spectral range from 6000cm-1 down to 50cm-1 in one step for all types of transmittance, reflectance, and ATR measurements.&nbsp; The unique Vertex FM technology complements the automatic beamsplitter changer unit BMS-c and detector switching devices that are available for the Vertex 80v high end research FTIR spectrometer.<\/p>\n<p>\n\tWhen the Vertex 70v vacuum spectrometer is equipped with the Vertex FM spectroscopy option, the spectral range is extended down to 10cm-1 utilizing the external water cooled mercury arc high power lamp and automatic source switching.<\/p>\n<p>\n\t<a href=\"http:\/\/www.bruker.com\/vertex\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">www.bruker.com\/vertex<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\n\t&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Bruker Corp., Madison, Wis., announces the world&#8217;s first FTIR spectrometer that covers the complete mid and far Infrared\/THz spectral ranges in one step with no gaps.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":63082,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"_acf_changed":false,"footnotes":""},"categories":[434,450,437,438,435,436,1],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-4467","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-electronics","category-general","category-materials-testing-and-evaluation","category-nanotechnology","category-news","category-news-articles","category-uncategorized"],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v27.9 -
