The solution is then jetted through inkjet-like heads – with corresponding density – onto layers of a print. The temperature within the build chamber is kept at a very high level, around 300°C, which causes the liquid to instantly evaporate and the nano-particles of metal to melt and fuse into the print layer.

This provides unique benefits in mechanical properties of materials and geometric properties of parts, resulting in better quality materials, which have better density and greater design freedom for designers and manufacturers. It also brings several operational and safety advantages.

With a large build tray up to 280×500 mm, NPJ technology creates a new environment for operators who need only basic skill sets and minimal training. Operators have practically no need to deal with safety issues, as high energy lasers and fine metal powders are eliminated, and materials are contained in enclosed cartridges. The technology is also scalable, opening many opportunities in the future to print multiple materials and scale to the market’s needs.

According to Frost & Sullivan, with its ability to print different materials precisely, the technology will be highly beneficial for the automotive, aerospace, and robotics industries, where high strength-to-weight ratio or high stiffness-to-weight ratio is critical.

“We’re delighted to win this celebrated award,” says XJet CEO Hanan Gothait, “XJet now has over 100 employees, innovative, brilliant people, many of whom work within our R&D labs, which are second-to-none. Bringing a wealth of experience from additive manufacturing and inkjet backgrounds, coupled with huge passion for the work, this team has generated 80 patents for XJet.
