Fluxtrol Inc., Auburn Hills, Mich., presented the Prof. Valentin S. Nemkov Academic Research Award and the Fluxtrol Student Research Awards during the ASM International Heat Treat 2019 conference in Detroit. Robert Goldstein, the Conference Chair and Fluxtrol\u2019s Director of Engineering, presented the following prestigious awards:<\/span><\/p>\n

Prof. Valentin S. Nemkov Academic Research Award<\/span><\/p>\n

Congratulations to Professor Rick Sisson, Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI) and Center for Heat Treatment Excellence (CHTE) for winning the Prof. Valentin S. Nemkov Academic Research Award. Dr. Sisson received $2500 for excellence in academic research in the field of thermal processing. The award supports research activity at the academic researcher\u2019s institution.<\/span><\/p>\n

Fluxtrol Student Research Award<\/span><\/p>\n

Congratulations to the following student winners whose research was deemed by judges to be of extraordinary quality and impact on the field of thermal processing:<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

1st Place \u2013 Mr. Harish Narasimhan Chakravarty, Materials Science and Engineering, Michigan State University, East Lansing \u2013 Effect of Alloying Addition of Aluminum and Iron on Creep Resistance of Titanium-Chromium Alloy. He received a $2,500 award.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

2nd Place \u2013 Ms. Christina Maria Katsari, McGill University, Montreal, Quebec, Canada \u2013 Taguchi Design for Heat Treatment of Rene 65 Components. She received a $1,000 award.<\/span><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

3rd Place \u2013 Mr. Dalton Garrett, Metallurgical and Materials Engineering, Colorado School of Mines, Advanced Steel Processing and Products Research Center, Golden \u2013 Nb and Prior Microstructure Effects on Induction Hardening Response of 1060 Steel. He received a $500 award.<\/span><\/p>\n
