Dorfman, FASM, Sulzer Metco Fellow, will be inducted into the Thermal Spray Hall of Fame on May 21, 2014 during the ITSC Plenary Session in Barcelona, Spain.<\/p>\n<p>\n\t\tThe Hall of Fame was established in 1993 by the ASM Thermal Spray Society to recognize and honor outstanding leaders who have made significant contributions to the science, technology, practice, education, management and advancement of thermal spraying. &#8220;The Hall of Fame is a bond between our industry&#8217;s past and its future,&#8221; said TSS President Luc Pouliot, Tecnar Automation Limited.<\/p>\n<p>\n\t\tMr. Dorfman is being recognized &#8220;for innovations in thermal spray turbine engine coatings, and for exceptional contributions to the thermal spray industry and technical community, and for dedicated mentoring of next generation thermal sprayers.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>\n\t\tMitch received his B.S. in Mechanical Engineering in 1978 and M.S. in Materials Science in 1979 from State University of New York at Stony Brook. He has held a number of positions with Sulzer Metco US since 1994 and prior to that he was with Metco Perkin Elmer from 1979 to 1994.&nbsp;&nbsp; He is internationally known for his development of materials for thermal spray, particularly carbides for wear resistance, zirconias for thermal barriers, and various materials for abradables.&nbsp; He holds 16 patents and over 60 publications or presentations.&nbsp; Mitch served on a number of TSS committees, is a Past President of TSS and is currently serving on the ASM Board.&nbsp; He was named ASM Fellow in 2010.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Mitchell R.
