{"id":8960,"date":"2015-11-11T18:34:51","date_gmt":"2015-11-11T18:34:51","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/staging.asminternational.org\/hts-new\/results\/-\/journal_content\/56\/10192\/25929206\/NEWS\/"},"modified":"2023-02-07T04:49:31","modified_gmt":"2023-02-07T04:49:31","slug":"nucor-to-acquire-gerdaus-cold-drawn-steel-bar-assets-in-ohio-and-georgia","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.asminternational.org\/hts\/nucor-to-acquire-gerdaus-cold-drawn-steel-bar-assets-in-ohio-and-georgia\/","title":{"rendered":"Nucor to acquire Gerdau\u2019s cold-drawn steel bar assets in Ohio and Georgia"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\n\tNucor Corp., Charlotte, N.C., has agreed to acquire Gerdau Long Steel&#8217;s Bright Bar assets located in Orrville, Ohio, and Cartersville, Georgia, which manufacture cold-drawn steel bars and have a combined production capacity of 75,000 tons per year.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\n\t&#8220;This acquisition advances Nucor&#8217;s strong competitive position in cold-finished bar and increases our downstream participation in this important channel to market,&#8221; says John Ferriola, Chairman, CEO, and President of Nucor. &#8220;This acquisition improves our geographic coverage and expands our range of products in this market segment.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\n\tNucor and its affiliates are manufacturers of steel products, with operating facilities primarily in the United States and Canada.&nbsp; Products include carbon and alloy steel \u2013 in bars, beams, sheet and plate; steel pilings; steel joists and joist girders; steel deck; fabricated concrete reinforcing steel; cold-finished steel; steel fasteners; metal building systems; steel grating and expanded metal; and wire and wire mesh.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\n\tThrough the David J. Joseph Company, Nucor also brokers ferrous and nonferrous metals, pig iron, and HBI\/DRI; supplies ferro-alloys; and processes ferrous and nonferrous scrap.
