Affiliate Committees

Should you be interested in a particular technical field, ASM offers affiliate society membership to provide you with deeper, more focused information-sharing resources. You'll be connected to the highly specialized events, publications, and expertise you need.

Within the boards and committees of these ASM Affiliate Societies, member needs are shaped into initiatives that lead to new products, services, and events. Interact with the leading experts in your technical interest area for learning and networking that you won't find anywhere else.

IMS Membership Subcommittee

The Membership Subcommittee contributes to the success of IMS through its ongoing membership program initiatives including actively enhancing and owning the member value proposition (new products, services and value); growing and retaining membership by demonstrating and reinforcing the value proposition; promoting metallography as a discipline, and improving membership communications throughout the society by developing marketing and sales plans that are based on the IMS Strategic Plan. Ultimately, the MM&O Committee is held accountable for meeting member needs as well as achieving the financial contribution for the Membership product line as set forth by the IMS Board.

TSS Accepted Practices Com. on Metallog. & Mech. Testing

Metallography -- The purpose of the Committee is to recommend best practices for the metallographic preparation of thermal spray coatings. These best practices will be developed through round robin testing by the member laboratories of this committee. Dissemination of the committee findings will be in the form of Accepted Practice documents which will be shared with the thermal spray community. Mechanical Testing • The purpose of the Committee is to review existing mechanical testing procedures to ensure that these tests provide accurate and reliable data pertaining to the properties of thermal spray coatings. In addition to a general review of procedures (ASTM, OEM, etc.), this committee will also look to undertake specific projects in an effort to help educate the thermal spray community about potential areas where mechanical testing may yield unreliable data. Findings and recommendations of this community will be distributed through traditional thermal spray publications and the TSS website.
