Image caption — An Acacia dealbata (yellow mimosa) flower about to open. The flower is about 4.5 mm across. The flower was removed from the tree and put into the microscope in a fresh state, and the image was taken quickly to avoid structural damage. All electron microscope images are gray scale (black and white), so false color was added using an image processing program.
