Chapter Council
The ASM Chapter Council is actively seeking volunteers for a District 9 Representative (Eastern New York, Buffalo, Mohawk Valley and Twin Tier). See the Chapter Council profile on the ASM website. The primary requirement is that the individual interested has experience as a past chapter chair. This is a great opportunity to help move the chapter system at ASM forward and to raise awareness of local chapter issues to the Council and the Board.
College & University Committee
The College and University Committee is looking for up to five new members to serve up to a three year term. No prior ASM committee participation is required, but prefer current college or university faculty, administrators, or staff serving materials science and engineering. Current students are also encouraged to apply. This committee will serve to help engage student and faculty members through developing programs, products, and services. Emerging Professionals Committee
The Emerging Professionals Committee is looking for new young professionals to form their 2015 class! The application deadline has been extended to March 16th. Those who apply for this committee must be an ASM member who is no more than five years past graduation and will serve a three year term. Members of this committee create pioneering programming, products, and services for the early career professional demographic as well as focus on public relations, conversion, event programming, online resource development, and local chapter support.
Handbook Committee
The ASM Handbook Committee is seeking candidates with expertise and editorial energy in the area of nondestructive evaluation (NDE).
Technical Books Committee
The Technical Books Committee is responsible for technical book type content published by ASM International. The committee is seeking volunteers who can bring their expertise and knowledge to peer review of ASM book proposals and the technical book collection. Book proposals range in topics from new subjects, such as additive manufacturing, to new and revised titles on existing content, such as titanium and heat treating. Committee members are not expected to be a subject matter experts in all topics, but should be committed to fostering development of developing and prior themes. Committee members should also be able to assist with recruitment of content contributors.
