German furnace builder develops annealing furnace with improved convection heat transfer

Sarnes Ingenieure GmbH & Co., Germany, reports that it has developed a new annealing furnace system for heat treatment. The company says that the furnaces have belt widths of 1000 mm or more, and engineers developed improved convection heat-transfer technology to achieve precise temperature profiles.

The built-in waste gas combustion and optional high-pressure cooling zone allow heat treatment under both air and protective atmospheres. Beside a +/-1°C temperature variation over the belt width, this high convective heating system offers energy consumption of only 30% compared to many other systems.

The annealing belt furnaces are built using a modular system of 4-m or 8-m lengths, with 4 m or 8 m convective cooling zones. The company adds that the post-burning chamber can be adjusted for light hydrocarbons or even heavy coal tar for carbon sintering applications.
