AMI Metals awarded contract to supply aluminum plate for Joint Strike Fighter

Reliance Steel & Aluminum Co., Los Angeles, announces that its subsidiary AMI Metals has been awarded a multi-year contract by BAE Systems to provide aluminum plate for the F-35 Joint Strike Fighter, Hawk, and Typhoon aircraft programs.  The five-year contract, with an estimated value of $100 million, runs January 1, 2017, through December 31, 2021, with the possibility of additional years.  The contract requirements include value-added, just-in-time, cut-to-size, and cut to shape processing. This follows an award by Lockheed Martin in October 2015, to provide aluminum products and services for the F-35 program in a five-year contract valued at an estimated $300 million.

“After completing a detailed and extensive sourcing process we are pleased to confirm that AMI Metals has been selected as our strategic partner for aluminum plate,” said Tony McMahon, Strategic Supplier Manager BAE Systems. “We are looking forward to working with and developing a long-term relationship with AMI Metals, as we deliver our customers with world-class products.”
