Hosted by the ASM Utah Chapter, 246 students participated in the ASM Mini-Materials Camp held during MS&T 2016 at Salt Lake Palace on October 25 and 26. Participating schools include, City Academy, American Fork Junior High School, Cyprus High School, South Summit High School, Beehive Science and Technology Academy, and Highland High.
Mini-Camp activities included: Shape Memory Alloy, Can Steel Take the Heat, Steel Rocks, Refractory Materials, Demonstration of Material Properties, Melting Metal with Microwaves, Aerogel Fabrication for Environmental Applications, Large Scale High frequency Electromagnetic Sorting of Non-magnetic Metals and Alloys, and TiO2 Nanotubes Arrays for Rapid Disease Detection.
Thank you to the many volunteers from the ASM Utah Chapter, University of Utah, AIST Foundation, American Ceramic Society, organizers from Ann Arbor and San Antonio teacher’s camps, and ASM Foundation master teachers.
