ASM’s Computational Materials Data Network group has launched a new website to better serve the needs of the materials data community, particularly those in pursuit of the goals of the U.S. Materials Genome Initiative and the promises of integrated computational materials engineering. In addition to keeping the community informed with relevant news and events, the new site will provide updates on CMD Network projects along with access to curated databases that are the result of these efforts. Access to the data repository is free, but requires log-in credentials that will be distributed through a series of webinars, the first of which is scheduled for Thursday, July 17, at 2:00 p.m. EDT.
About the CMD Network
The Computational Materials Data Network (CMD Network) was launched in response to the U.S. Materials Genome Initiative and the growing trend toward integrated computational materials engineering (ICME). These closely intertwined developments rely on data sharing and collaboration, and at a White House Materials Genome event held on May 14, 2012, the CMD Network was formally announced to address these needs. Through an array of activities, services, and offerings, the CMD Network supports, facilitates, and promotes the collection, dissemination, and management of materials data, helping the materials science and engineering community to work more collaboratively in its pursuit of the goals of MGI.
