J.L. Becker, a Gasbarre Furnace Group Company, Plymouth, Mich., has installed two similar furnace systems for a domestic alloy manufacturer. One is a retrofit of an existing 6 x 32 x 3 ft. car bottom furnace with a complete insulation reline, upgraded pulse-fired combustion system with self-recuperative burners, and upgraded furnace controls with data logging. The other is a new 55,000 lb., 6 x 32 x 3 ft. car bottom furnace with duplicate combustion and control systems. Operating temperatures of both furnaces range from 900 to 2000°F, and comply with AMS-2750E specifications.
