Spray Tips: Thermal Spray Coating Features

This diagram shows the important thermal spray coating features that combine to determine the properties of a coating. These features include the lamellar or layered splat structure; entrapped, unmelted, or resolidified particles; pores, oxide inclusions, grains, phases, cracks, and bond interfaces.

The diagram schematically illustrates typical coating characteristics and a representative deposit/coating microstructure.
