Samsung mass-producing 4-gigabit DDR4 devices via 20 nm-class process technology

Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd., Japan, is now mass-producing 4-gigabit (Gb) advanced DDR4 memory, for enterprise servers in next-generation data centers. Early market availability of the devices, which use 20 nm-class process technology, will facilitate demand for 16- and 32-gigabyte memory modules. This compares to conventional DRAM of which 8  gigabyte modules using a 30nm-class process technology are still commonplace.

Solar Atmospheres heat treats thousand-pound stainless steel exhaust duct

Solar Atmospheres of Western Pennsylvania, Hermitage, Pa., recently thermally processed in vacuum a 410 stainless steel fabrication 90 in. high by 75 in. wide and weighing 1060 lb. The finish-machined weldment is an exhaust duct used exclusively for testing jet engines. This intricate piece was vacuum hardened and tempered per AMS 2759/5D, Type 4 Class A to HRC 25-33.   In order to meet this stringent specification, the part was thermocoupled in both the thin and heavy sections of the weldment.
