AP&T North America Inc., Monroe, N.C., has introduced a new energy-efficient modular furnace with automation for press hardening. The Multilayer Feeder Furnace reduces heat loss by two thirds compared to conventional roller hearth furnaces. It features several modules stacked on top of each other. Blanks are added and removed using SpeedFeeders, and stay completely motionless during the heating process.
Aluminum and Aluminum Alloys
Aluminum and Aluminum Alloys Aluminum and aluminum alloys have many outstanding attributes that lead to a wide range of applications, including good corrosion and oxidation resistance, high electrical and thermal conductivities, low density, high reflectivity, high ductility and reasonably high strength, and relatively low cost. Aluminum is a lightweight material with a density […]
Lowering titanium’s cost and environmental footprint for lightweight products
A novel method for extracting titanium could lower its cost and make it more widely accessible, for example, for producing lighter car parts to improve fuel efficiency.
Expansion of aluminum rolling mills in Korea
Novelis, Atlanta, completed a two-year, $400 million expansion program in South Korea.
Innovative deep-sea manned submarine (with video)
