Geodesic Dome Design Competition

DomesDay 2017: We Came, We Saw, We Smashed!

Eleven teams competed at MS&T this year in aesthetics, presentation, poster, and mechanical strength (through compression testing) to win the $1,000 top prize! VT Dome from Virginia Tech won first place, followed by Tree Killers from Arizona State ($750 prize) and MinerDomeination ($500 prize) from Missouri Science and Technology.

Next year, DomesDay 2018 will be held at the ASM Annual Meeting, in conjuction with MS&T, in Columbus, Ohio.

Established in 2014 by the ASM Student Board Members, DomesDay is intended to familiarize Material Advantage students with a piece of ASM culture, the Dome, by involving them in a design and materials selection competition.
