    Willard Gibbs Phase Equilibria Award<\/strong><\/p>

    The award was established in 2007 to recognize outstanding contributions to the field of Phase Equilibria. The award honors J. Willard Gibbs, one of America\u2019s greatest theoretical scientists. In addition to many other contributions, Gibbs laid the thermodynamic foundations of phase equilibria theory with his brilliant essay \u201cOn the Equilibrium of Heterogeneous Substances\u201d published in 1876 and 1878 in the Transactions of the Connecticut Academy.<\/p>
