Advanced Manufacturing Process for Aluminum Alloys

Pacific Northwest National Laboratory researchers developed a new process for producing nanostructured rods and tubes directly from high-performance aluminum alloy powder—in a single step. The advanced manufacturing technique uses a Solid Phase Processing approach, which eliminates several steps required by conventional extruding, while also achieving increased product ductility.
