Aluminum foil is made from a large block of aluminum that is thinned out in several long and complex stages.

This video from How It’s Made shows how an eight-ton ingot that is 14 feet long, five feet wide, and 18 inches thick is transformed into aluminum foil less than 0.1 inch thick, one foot wide, and five miles long.
