Inside the Apollo Lunar Module

The Apollo Lunar Module (LM) was the part of the Apollo spacecraft that landed on the moon. The LM consisted of two sections, the ascent stage and descent stage. For the landing, both sections went to the surface of the moon. For the launch, only the ascent stage left the surface.

Fuel and oxidizer tanks were stored in the center compartments of the descent stage. Equipment was also stored in the outer corners, which were called quadrants. Items such as the Lunar Roving Vehicle, scientific experiments, a camera, and water and oxygen tanks were stored there. The astronauts lived in the ascent stage. It had the controls, two windows, more equipment, a docking hatch, and the engine to leave the lunar surface.
