The Panama Canal and How It Grew

The largest infrastructure project since the waterway’s original construction, the Panama Canal Expansion Program has completed a new lane of traffic along the Canal through the construction of a new set of locks. The new locks have three chambers, water-saving basins, lateral filling and emptying systems, and rolling gates. The Panama Canal Expansion inauguration was held June 26, 2016.
