ASM Student Night
February 28, 2019 | The Holiday Inn Buffalo - Airport
ASM Student Night Thursday – February 28, 2019 SPEAKER: Timothy Cook, Assistant Professor of Chemistry at the University at Buffalo. TOPIC: “When Life Gives You 10,000 Terawatts of Solar Power”. Dr. Cook oversees a research group that explores many different aspects of energy conversion, primarily through the design of new molecules and materials that can interact with light and electricity. These materials provide the basis for new solar panels, catalysts for fuel cells, and other energy-relevant applications. An introduction to the science of self-assembly (including interactive, hands-on models) will frame a discussion of how nature takes advantage of solar energy and why scientists are interested in mimicking energy conversion processes in the lab.
