October 2018 Technical Meeting

October 25, 2018 | Fairways at Arrowhead

Pulse Electrodeposited Alloy Coatings This presentation summarizes the development and characterization of pulse electrodeposited alloy coatings with and without nanocrystalline additives. The development of the coatings was aimed at providing friction reduction and wear protection, as well as corrosion resistance to precision steel components. Specifically, nickel alloys with and without nanometer-sized TiO2 dopants (i.e., Ni-W/TiO2 ) were developed and proved to be particularly beneficial as tribological coatings in sliding and rolling contact. Synthesis, characterization, and applications of these composite coatings will be discussed.

September 2018 Joint Meeting

September 16, 2018 | New Era Cafe

The Intensive Quenching process is a computer controlled, innovative quenching process utilized to improve the physical properties of steels without compromising other properties of the alloy. These include wear resistance, increased fatigue life, increased fracture toughness and/or reduced weight. This process by controlled raid cooling is environmentally friendly. It also results in improved physical properties. This process can reduce costs over the conventional heat treating processes. This presentation will highlight the benefits of the above enabling heat treating process.
