Call for Papers
Friday, February 8, 2019
Deadline EXTENDED: Friday, February 22
Heat Treat 2019, the biennial co-located show from the ASM Heat Treating Society and the American Gear Manufacturers Association, is where heat treating professionals go to take stock of the industry and predict what's coming in the future. Conference organizers are seeking original, previously unpublished, non-commercial papers for oral and poster presentations for this show.
Authors interested in participating should submit original, previously unpublished abstracts of 100-150 words (in English) via our online abstract service. Position your research and organization as industry thought leaders while promoting your organization’s innovative solutions, products, and services to the heat treating industry.
Authors may submit full manuscripts (6-10 pages) or extended abstracts (3-4 pages) to be included in the conference proceedings. Complimentary registration will be provided for presenting authors who submit a full manuscript and for students who submit an extended abstract or full manuscript.
NEW! Completed manuscripts that are of sufficient quality may be selected to be published in a special issue of the Journal of Materials Engineering and Performance (JMEP). Please indicate your interest in that option when submitting your abstract, and note that earlier manuscript deadlines will apply to allow for the peer review process.
Abstracts are being solicited in, but not limited to, the following technical areas:
- Additive Manufacturing / 3D Processing
- Applied Technology / Processes and Applications
- Atmosphere Technology and Surface Engineering
- Automotive Lightweighting
- Induction Heat Treating
- Internet of Things
- Low Temperature Surface Hardening of Stainless Steel
- Materials Durability / Mechanical Testing
- Microstructural Development / Characterization
- Powder Metallurgy
- Quenching and Cooling
- Residual Stress
- Thermal Mechanical Processing
- Thermal Processing of Non-Metals (ceramics, composites, polymers)
- Vacuum Processes and Technology
- Welding / Joining
NOTE: To maintain the integrity of Heat Treat, please obtain pre-approval to present your work at the conference before submitting your abstract. All costs associated with your participation will be at your expense (travel, housing, and full conference registration fee).
Prof. Valentin S. Nemkov Academic Research Award
Sponsored by Fluxtrol, Inc.
Heat Treat 2019 will offer Post-Doctoral Researchers, Lecturers and Professors (Academic Researchers) a competition-based award and recognition program, seeking to encourage increased participation of Academic Institutions in ASM Heat Treating Society (HTS), and to provide attractive offers and opportunities in the worldwide Materials and Thermal Processing communities. We are soliciting abstract submissions based on thermal processing of metal or metal containing components for this competition. The winner will receive $2,500 that can be used to support research activity at the Academic Researcher’s Institution. The award can be used for travel expense (researcher or student), conference fees, scholarship money, or laboratory equipment. Click HERE to learn more.
