ITSC 2018 will only accept online abstract submissions of 150 - 200 words or less in English via our online abstract service. Please go to to begin your submission process. The system is self-explanatory and will allow you return access once you have signed up so that you may edit your abstract as needed before actually submitting by the August 18, 2017 deadline.

*To maintain the integrity of ITSC, please obtain pre-approval to present your work at the conference before submitting your abstract.  All costs associated with your participation will be at your expense (travel, housing, and registration fee).

Note: Authors may indicate with their abstract if they wish their paper to be considered for publication in a special issue of the Journal of Thermal Spray Technology as a peer-reviewed paper.

2016 Event Information

ITSC 2016 was held May 10-12, 2016 at the Shanghai International Convention Center & Oriental Riverside Hotel in Shanghai, P.R. China.

This outstanding annual event in the world of thermal spray technology is jointly organized by the German Welding Society (DVS), ASM International's Thermal Spray Society (TSS) and International Institute of Welding (IIW).

The organizers are proud to be supported by their Chinese partners as Host Organizers of ITSC 2016: TSCC – Thermal Spray Committee of Chinese Surface Engineering Association and SICCAS – Shanghai Institute of Ceramics, Chinese Academy of Sciences.


Attendees are requested to check with the Chinese consulate in their home country or with their travel agency for visa requirements. It is the responsibility of the attendee to obtain a visa in advance.
