Materials Park, OH. – ASM International is pleased to announce the signing of a cooperation agreement with Intelligent Manufacturing Systems (IMS). IMS is an industry-led, international business innovation and research and development (R&D) program established to develop the next generation of manufacturing and processing technologies through multi-lateral collaboration. The cooperation agreement will explore marketing and service opportunities for manufacturers, researchers and manufacturing stakeholders. The opportunities include workshops, forums and innovation hubs. The agreement also will expand the integration of Materials Information into STEP/ISO-10303 standards.
ASM and IMS will support the activities of meetings, workshops and forums at the following events:
AeroMat 2019, May 6-8, Reno, Nevada. IMS will provide a workshop centered on the aerospace industry. During the event IMS will provide a keynote speaker.
World Manufacturing Forum (WMF) 2019, September 25-27, Villa Erba, Lake Como, Italy. ASM will provide keynotes and potential panel on materials.
Heat Treat 2019, October 15-17, Detroit, Michigan. IMS will provide a workshop centered around the auto industry, focused on additive manufacturing, Internet of Things, Automotive Light Weighting and suggest a keynote for challenges in manufacturing and globalization.
IMAT 2020, September 14-17, Cleveland, Ohio. IMS will develop custom workshops centered on IMAT Key Topic areas including Big Data & Analytics, Industrial Internet of Things, Autonomous & Collaborative Robots and Additive Manufacturing.
With the recent investment of the ASM Digital Library in partnership with Silverchair, ASM hopes to extend these capabilities to IMS and WMF communities for ease-of-use and searchable set of resources. The ASM Digital Library can lead to the development of an SME Portal or set of resources to reinforce ManuVation 4.0 concepts on topics like Additive Manufacturing, Simulations, Cloud, Big Data and Analytics, IOT and others.
In regards to the integration of Materials Information into STEP/ISO-10303 standards, ASM believes that manufacturing processes can be streamlined by the addition of material properties and process information. ASM is working with Standard Organizations like NIST, ISO, ANSI, ASTM, SAE, ASME, and others to advance this goal, and IMS/WMF has been working with manufacturing industry partners like PDES, Aerospace States Association, National Council for Advanced Manufacturing and others.
