TSS White Paper
The Thermal Spray Society's mission statement is to be the leading global source for thermal spray information. The Thermal Spray Advisory Council, in turn, developed white papers on thermal spray for use by anyone in the community without charge. All content is open source, and can be used or revised for any format.
TSS, the Thermal Spray Society, is dedicated to the expansion of knowledge, technical information, safety guidelines, and best processes and procedures in this unique and valuable surface application. With an unparalleled international community and network, TSS members have access to a global marketplace that continues to grow. TSS members enjoy a wealth of benefits.
TSS Student Board Members
The TSS Student Board Member positions are open to undergraduate or graduate students, studying or researching in an area closely related to the field of thermal spray technology. Two Students are selected each year.
Application deadline is extended to April 23.
TSS Student Board Member Guidelines (pdf) Handbook on Thermal Spray Technology and Cold Spray
The Thermal Spray Technology book is an excellent introduction and guidebook for those new to thermal spray. Expanded selection of applications includes electronics and semiconductors, automotive, energy, and biomedical. Prominent thermal spray markets such as aerospace and industrial gas turbines, and areas of growth such as advanced thermal barrier materials are also reviewed.
This new book, Cold Spray is a highly practical and useful "go-to" resource that presents an in-depth look at the high pressure cold spray process and describes applications in various industries. High Pressure Cold Spray: Principles and Applications is both a comprehensive and technically advanced resource for anyone involved in cold spray technology, from coating design and development to performance of coatings and coated parts in both the laboratory and industrial environments.
TSS Hall of Fame 2018 Winners
William J. Lenling and Masahiro Fukumoto have been selected to become members of the 2018 Thermal Spray Hall of Fame by the ASM Thermal Spray Society Board of Directors.
Mr. Lenling is a co-founder (1992), and CTO of TST Engineered Coatings, in Sun Prairie, Wisconsin, which engineers and manufactures industrial coatings and coated components. The award citation reads: For sustained achievements in entrepreneurial advances of thermal spray processes and proven leadership in establishing state-of-the-art production processes and high value in-situ quality monitoring manufacturing practices.
Dr. Fukumoto is a Professor of Mechanical Engineering at Toyohashi University of Technology in Japan. Award citation: For significant contributions to the development of thermal spray technology through innovative research, published papers, and leadership in TSS and Asian thermal spray societies.
