Furukawa Electric Co., Ltd., announced that its Board of Directors has approved a reorganization plan to streamline its optical fiber and cable products business. The company will establish a new wholly-owned subsidiary, referred to as the “New Company,” which will succeed its optical fiber and cable business through an absorption-type split. Additionally, the new company will assume the shares of Shoden Seiwa Co., Ltd., a subsidiary engaged in optical fiber and cable products.
To support this restructuring, Furukawa Electric will create another subsidiary, the “Holding Company,” to manage its global optical fiber operations, including OFS Fitel, LLC in the U.S. and Furukawa Electric LatAm S.A. in Brazil. The reorganization aims to integrate the company’s operations more efficiently on a global scale.
The split, effective April 1, 2025, is intended to strengthen Furukawa’s market position and enhance its ability to respond to evolving industry challenges while maintaining its focus on innovation and operational efficiency.
