Peters Heat Treating Inc., Meadville, Pa., plans to broaden its customer base by expanding production capabilities with a multimillion-dollar investment in West Mead Township. It is a thermal processing manufacturer of ferrous and non-ferrous materials. The company will purchase and renovate the existing 12,700-square-foot facility in West Mead Township. In addition to the Meadville location, Peters Heat Treating has a location in McKean. The two locations service western Pennsylvania, eastern Ohio, and western New York.
“The existing shop (on Race Street) will stay where it is to serve the tool and die community,” says Doug Peters, president. “We’ll be putting over $1 million in the old recycling center in the West Mead Industrial Park.”
The Pennsylvania Industrial Development Authority (PIDA) will provide a $410,000, 15-year, low-interest loan at 1.5 percent to the Economic Progress Alliance of Crawford County on behalf of Peters Heat Treating. “We’re on time according to the strategic plan,” Peters said. “We should be processing customer work by early December.”
