The fellowship is intended for use in a graduate basic research effort, specifically addressing shape memory materials such as nitinol. It is intended to be the foundation for a future funding grant or research funding mechanism award.
The $25,000 fellowship was awarded to Ahmadreza Jahadakbar of the University of Toledo for his research “Additive Manufacturing of Nitinol Fixation Hardware for Reconstructing Mandibular Segmental Defects.” A paper will be presented at the 2015 International Conference on Shape Memory and Superelastic Technologies in Oxfordshire, UK, as part of the Plenary Session on Wednesday, May 20 at 9:15 a.m.
The sponsoring companies and organizations who made this fellowship possible are:
Admedes Schuessler GmbH (Pforzheim, Germany), EuroFlex GmbH (Pforzheim, Germany), Fort Wayne Metals (Ind.), G. Rau GmbH (Pforzheim, Germany), Nitinol Devices & Components (Fremont, Calif.), and the International Organization on Shape Memory and Superelastic Technologies (Materials Park, Ohio).
