Surface Combustion celebrates 70 Years of successful heat treating

Surface Combustion, Maumee, OH, is celebrating 70 years of successful heat treating. In this time, over 3000 furnaces were installed and 496,040 tons of steel were processed.

The company said that the Allcase batch integral quench furnace has been the main heat treating solution for the last seventy years, meeting customer-specified thermal processing and production requirements. Over 50% of heat treaters use the Allcase.

This is used for a range of processes including annealing, austenitizing, carbon restoration, carbonitriding, carburizing, ferritic nitrocarburizing (FNC), neutral hardening, normalizing, spheroidizing, stress-relieving.

“We pioneered the Allcase in 1951 and since then, it has been a trusted source for heat-treating processes around the world,” said Ben Bernard, VP of marketing at Surface Combustion. “We are excited to celebrate its success and look forward to the future as it continues to be the furnace choice for versatility.”
