June 8 – 10, 2027 | Tucson, AZ

International Conference on Advances in Materials, Manufacturing & Repair for Power Plants

Join industry leaders and innovators at the 11th International Conference on Advances in Materials, Manufacturing & Repair for Power Plants, taking place June 8–10, 2027, at the Loews Ventana Canyon Resort in Tucson, Arizona.

As the global energy sector undergoes transformation, the demand for safe, reliable, efficient, and environmentally responsible power generation has never been greater. The safe and affordable operation of today’s and tomorrow’s power infrastructure depends on continued advancement in materials and manufacturing technologies, which serve as key enabling technologies for the development of high-efficiency power conversion systems.

Organized jointly by EPRI and ASM International, this conference builds on a distinguished legacy dating back to EPRI’s inaugural event in 1987. Since then, the conference has rotated internationally across Europe, the United Kingdom, North America, and the Pacific with the most recent conference held in California (2025), bringing together experts from industry, research institutions, and academia. The 2027 conference will continue this tradition by providing a premier forum for sharing the latest technical developments, operational experience, and research advancements in materials technology for power generation.

Technical Focus & Conference Themes

The conference will highlight advancements in materials, manufacturing, performance, and repair technologies for both conventional and emerging power systems, including steam power systems (HRSGs, boilers, and steam turbines), gas turbines, concentrating solar power (CSP), geothermal energy, small modular reactors (SMRs) and advanced nuclear technologies, sCO₂ power cycles, advanced ultra-supercritical (A-USC) steam systems, and hydrogen and bulk thermal energy storage technologies.

The technical program will focus on key areas including:

  • Advanced Manufacturing: additive manufacturing (PBF, DED), powder metallurgy hot isostatic pressing (PM-HIP), advanced welding, cladding, and fabrication processes.

  • Codes and Standards: improved design approaches, material and welding qualification, standards development, and emerging regulatory challenges.

  • Component-Specific Challenges: castings, forgings, blades, rotors, valves, and fabrication processes.

  • Damage Mechanisms and Material Behavior: creep, creep-fatigue interaction, stress relaxation cracking, oxidation, corrosion, wear, erosion, and synergistic degradation mechanisms.

  • High-Temperature Materials: superalloys, creep-strength-enhanced ferritic (CSEF) steels, stainless steels, intermetallics, coatings, claddings, and advanced material systems.

  • Performance and Life Management: field experience, failure analysis, modeling and validation, feature testing, integrated life management, and fitness-for-service (FFS) methodologies.

  • Repair and Refurbishment Technologies: weld repair, rejuvenation heat treatment, surface engineering, and emerging repair solutions.
